In The Spotlight: Maya Moore

Maya April Moore is a professional WNBA basketball player who was born on June 11, 1989 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Maya started playing basketball at the age of three years old thanks to her mother, Kathryn Moore, who mounted a basketball hoop on the back of a door in their apartment to prevent Maya from running around the apartment. Myra is 6 feet tall, weighing 174 pounds, and attended a college in Connecticut. Myra has accomplished great things, including:

  • WNBA Champion (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017)
  • WNBA Finals MVP (2013)
  • WNBA Most Valuable Player (2014)
  • WNBA Rookie of the Year (2011)
  • All-WNBA First Team (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017)
  • All-WNBA Second Team (2012)
  • WNBA All-Defensive Second Team (2014, 2017)
  • Western Conference All-Star (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015-MVP, 2017-MVP)
  • Western Conference Player of the Month (Aug. 2013, Sept. 2013, May 2014, July 2014, Aug. 2014, July 2015, May 2016, Sept. 2016)
  • Western Conference Player of the Week (2012:2, 2013:3, 2014:5, 2015:4, 2016:3)
  • Named to the WNBA’s Top 20@20 Team
  • Lynx career leader in three-point FGs (464), steals (392) and blocks (164)
  • Lynx single-season record for points (812, 2014)
  • Olympic Gold Medalist (2012, 2016)
  • FIBA World Championship Gold Medalist (2010, 2014)

Myra has gained numerous titles in her career and is still striving to accomplish more.
