Are you feeling stressed? Then it’s time to keep your stress at bay! Between social distancing and quarantine, you might be feeling it, but look no further! We have a list of ways to put some pep into your step, turn your days from drab to fab and send that stress packing!
What Is Stress, Exactly?
Stress is fairly common and almost everyone gets it sometime in their life one way or another. Stress is how your body reacts to certain changes that may have a lot of pressure on you, and it also happens when you fear something that may come up in the future. It can also occur when you feel threatened.
When stress occurs, you may feel tense, nervous, or on edge. Some examples that may get you feeling stressed are, but not limited to: A recent argument, an upcoming deadline, or just too much going on that you have to think about.
Your Life’s Antagonist: Stress
If you let your stress go on for too long, it can harm your physical, mental and emotional health. It also increases the chances of getting any diseases, or illnesses. The following problems may occur: acne, headaches, aches and pains, frequent sickness, hair loss and graying, and a shorter lifespan.
Here are a few ways to reduce your stress at school and at home!
1 – Rearranging Your Desk
Yes, rearranging your desk. This may not seem like much at first, but it may end up changing a lot. Personally, I like changing my scenery weekly to improve how I work while doing my school work. Having a positive environment around you while you work can boost your motivation to keep going!
2 – Have a Family Movie Night
Movie nights are great for snuggling together, no matter the weather! You can whip up some of your family’s favorite desserts, or just have some of your favorite junk food (Healthy food is great too!). Movies, especially with the family, can be an awesome way to unwind after a long week. Make sure to pick a movie that everyone is sure to enjoy and get ready for some laughs!
3 – Take a Bike Ride
Bike rides are a good stress reliever and are fun too. When you take your bike ride, don’t really focus on your speed (Unless you want to, of course). Take in nature, do some sight seeing, listen to the birds, or drive on a new path for a change! Being in the fresh air and sun, can make a difference on how you start your day! If you’re not bike savvy, no worries! Any non-vigorous exercise or outside activity is sure to be a great stress reliever as well!
4 – Read a Book
Books are a great way to take a break from your day, get lost into a different world and dive into your imagination. No matter if you enjoy mystery, action, romance, or any other genre; A book is sure to relax you. It’s always nice to share a great book with a friend, because it’s twice the fun!
Take a break and unwind! Even a little thing that you do in your life today – from getting outside more often, to taking time to spend with family – can make a big difference!
“Sometimes, change is a good thing.” – Christian Yelich
“The time to relax, is when you don’t have time.” – Sydney J. Harris
