FLVS has a large variety of science courses available for students to take! From Biology to Physics, there are interesting classes that will appeal to every type of student. The following courses are student-selected favorites that range from middle school to high school level and follow a variety of scientific topics.
Biology
Biology is a wonderful, interesting and informative class to take through FLVS. The class focuses on the main elements and structures of life. In this course, you explore subjects like DNA, RNA, cell reproduction, mutations, diseases/sicknesses and how the ecosystem works. Biology also allows students to go through virtual labs and make presentations on certain subjects. Not only can Biology be educational, but it can also be fun.
Physics 1
Physics 1 is an eye-opening class that focuses on the mathematical elements behind the physical sciences. Students learn about the math that is behind scientific theories of matter and energy. Physics 1 equips students with knowledge of the contributions that famous scientists such as Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton have made. Overall, the course utilizes experiments and collaborative activities to assess a student’s knowledge of the world around them.
M/J Comprehensive Science
Comprehensive Science is a fantastic class for middle/junior high school students. In it, you will learn a wide variety of subjects from climate change to how to calculate speed. It teaches middle school students about crucial topics such as Newton’s laws, the water cycle, the atmosphere and more! In this class you also get to do fun assignments like science labs; in a science lab you make a scientific model and work hands-on to understand more about your lesson. You also make a data report. Comprehensive science makes learning about science so much fun!
