In this day and age, you might feel like they are sitting around on your phone or the TV and playing video games all day. However, there are plenty of other fun ways to keep yourself entertained, including reading. Reading is an amazing way to nourish your mind and awaken your brain. Here are some great books for anyone in grades 4 to 6.
Fourth Grade
1. “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” by Judy Blume
This book series is about two brothers, Peter and Fudge, who grow with each book and learn new lessons. It is a fun read for anyone.
2. “The Books of Elsewhere” by Jacqueline West
In this book, the main character, Olive, has moved again, this time to a strange old house. She meets new challenges and soon learns that her new house doesn’t want her there. This one is a spooky, clean read that keeps readers turning pages until the very end.
3. “Big Nate” by Lincoln Peirce
This series is about Nate and his funny obstacles of sixth grade. It has enemies, crushes, friends and every other thing that a person could want from a fun series like this.
Fifth Grade
1. “Harry Potter” by J.K. Rowling
This is a very popular book series about a boy named Harry, who learns he is a powerful wizard and finds many secrets about his school of magic. He makes great friends but also very great enemies.
2. “Percy Jackson” by Rick Riordan
This is another popular series and is about three characters, Percy, Grover and Annabeth, who go on quests that take them from the underworld to Olympus, and everywhere in between. Along the way, they take great risks and have lots of fun. This series is a fun, entertaining read that can give you creeps and can have you laughing along with the characters.
3. “N.E.R.D.S” by Michael Buckley
These books are less known, but just as good as the other series on this list. Six kids, known as Braceface, Gluestick, Flinch, Pufferfish, Choppers and Wheezer form the N.E.R.D.S (it’s an unfortunate acronym). They solve problems that go on around the world, but they’re also fifth graders at school. This book is a hilarious, cool read that will have you smiling and wishing you were a N.E.R.D.
Sixth Grade
1. “Artemis Fowl” by Eion Colfer
This awesome series combines magic, intelligence, and ups and downs. Artemis is convinced that fairies exist and that he will capture one. He has a plan to catch one; however, this scheme could cause both the fairy and the human worlds to collapse.
2. “Keeper of the Lost Cities” by Shannon Messenger
Sophie has always lived with humans… and a big secret: She is telepathic, which means she can hear other people’s thoughts. When she meets Fitz, who can also read thoughts, her whole world turns upside down, and she is faced with the question: is she actually human or is she something else?
3. “Land of Stories” by Chris Colfer
In this book, main characters Alex and Connor fall into their grandma’s storybook and realize they’re not in their home anymore. They have to find ingredients to get back home- before someone else does…

I’m so happy that you included Keeper of the Lost Cities into this. It is literally my favorite book series, and has been since I was in 4th grade, that was 4 years ago. It seems like a lot of people have never heard of the book series so thank you for shedding some light on it.
You’re welcome! My friends and I love it!!! I can’t wait for the movie!
Wait, there’s really gonna be a movie! Now I’m excited!
I have read the Harry Potter books and loved them and I am currently reading the Percy Jackson series.
Nice Denise!!! Try out some others if you like those!
All these books sound so good! The only one missing in this list is Diary of a wimpy kid, but other than that, this list is spot-on!
