As high school quickly goes by, questions throughout your four years include “What college are you going to?” and “What are you going to major in?” This subject can bring anxiety to not only upperclassmen, but also underclassmen. One of the Florida Virtual School courses taken by many students is Career Research and Decision Making. The course breaks down life after high school and how to prepare for college.
I was one of the students to take the course this year. When beginning the course, I was eager to see what it would teach me and how it could affect my perspective on college. My teacher Mrs. Ginoris was excited to help me on my journey of wanting to attend Vanderbilt University and pursue criminal justice. When looking at college, you look at the application process, cost, benefits, and why this college would be best for you. The course broke down how to save up for college, how to begin the application process, and how to determine if a college is best for your major or if there are others to consider. When ending the course, I was asked by my teacher if the course was beneficial and answered any questions I had. By the time I finished the course, I felt prepared and comfortable when it comes to applying for college. The course also helped in my decision to do my first two years of college at a community college and then transfer to a university.
Although the thought of college may be scary, take the course to see what you can learn and how it can help you.
