Top Five Wacky Holidays Throughout the Year

Posted on May 18, 2023May 18, 2023 by NIAC Collaborators

Throughout the year, numerous holidays are celebrated, including Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and more. However, there are also several fun and sometimes wacky holidays that often go unnoticed. In this article, I will introduce you to five different holidays that you may not be familiar with.

National Dolphin Day

On April 14, we have National Dolphin Day, a holiday dedicated to celebrating dolphins. These intelligent and friendly mammals belong to the same family as whales, and interestingly, killer whales are actually dolphins, not whales. Isn’t that cool?

Read Across America Day

March 2, is Read Across America Day, which was established by the National Education Association in 1998 to promote reading among children and teenagers. It’s worth noting that this day also coincides with the birthday of Dr. Seuss, a beloved children’s author.

National Smoothie Day

Next up is June 21, National Smoothie Day. For all you smoothie enthusiasts out there, this is your lucky day. Smoothies offer a refreshing way to blend your favorite flavors into a single delicious drink, such as mango-blueberry or peanut butter-banana. Yum!

National Chocolate Day

Mark your calendars for October 28, National Chocolate Day. Indulge in all things chocolate on this special day, whether it’s hot chocolate, chocolate chip pancakes, or cookies. This day gives Halloween and even Valentine’s Day a run for their money!

National Dress Your Pet Up Day

Lastly, on January 14, we have National Dress Your Pet Up Day. This holiday might be more enjoyable for pet owners than for their furry friends. It’s an opportunity to dress up your pets in various costumes, resulting in adorable or hilariously amusing moments. Let your creativity run wild!

I hope you found this article interesting and learned something new about these holidays. Do you have a favorite among them, and were you familiar with any of these holidays before reading this article?
