Change is in the Air
Every year around this time, you start to see Christmas decorations popping up in stores, malls and street corners. There’s turkey to be cooked, shopping to do, and football to watch. It’s always an exciting time of year.
But this November was even more exciting as the first Tuesday marked the end of a historical election for our country. The House and Senate regained their same-party majority, a crucial victory for the hopes of many with the goal of passing new legislation in the coming months. For the first time, a woman appeared on the ballot as a candidate for vice-president and an African American was elected president. We rewrote the history books this year and it is certainly an exciting time to be an American.
But it is also an exciting time to be an FLVS student, parent or staff member. Our school is growing by leaps and bounds. We continue to hire more instructors and staff to accommodate our students’ needs. A new partnership with Connections Academy allows us to offer online elementary and middle school courses, and our Curriculum Services team is hard at work developing new courses and enhancing current offerings. Student Activities are in full swing with a mock election, the grand opening of the FLVS Virtual Library, and participation in National Distance Learning Week this month. Now is the time to get involved and show your school spirit, so be sure to watch the FLVS website to see what’s new.
This is the time of year to be thankful, and we at FLVS are extremely thankful for the opportunity to provide online education to the students of Florida and beyond. All FLVS staff members, from the receptionist to the CEO, work hard each and every day to meet the needs of our students, parents, and community and we would not have it any other way.
