FLVS Barnes & Noble Open House

On Saturday, January 31st, parents, teachers and students from Florida Virtual School gathered at their local Barnes & Noble store across the state of Florida to meet each other at an exciting event that I look forward to every year - the Florida Virtual School Open House. It was a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other!

Not only was meeting the different students great, it was really cool meeting the different teachers as well. It is funny to think that it is totally normal for Florida Virtual Schoolers to not have ever met their teacher before! I got to know some of the teachers who will be teaching future classes that I will be taking, like AP English and Biology. Bags, pencils, and tattoos, all with the Florida Virtual School logo on them, were available for students to pick up and show off their school spirit!

It was also very cool to see many people who have never heard of Florida Virtual School before suddenly become interested in the classes. The part that surprised them all the most was the fact that it is entirely online. Being able to meet the teachers in person was great for many of the people who have never heard of FLVS before, because they were able to discuss it face to face, instead of through a computer.

Florida Virtual School did an excellent job organizing this event and allowing parents, teachers and students to meet each other. I know that this is an event that I look forward to every year, because of the amazing people that I meet and the opportunities that I am offered.
