SunriseBirth of a Decade
By Emily Lupfer, Editor in Chief

That time is here again. With the hectic holiday season behind us, we’re looking forward to not only a bright new year but also the birth of a new decade.

It’s astounding just how much has changed and how much has been accomplished since the year 2000. Unbelievable advances have been made in medicine and technology. We struggled when the United States was attacked and entered a war, and celebrated the inauguration of two new presidents. We survived the "end of the world" in 2000, and will face it again in 2012. We can no longer imagine our lives without the Internet, and Florida Virtual School has taken off and proudly stands as the leader in online education.

We live in exciting times. The world and the way we live are constantly changing. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to what 2010 and the next ten years will bring. So as you finish off the last piece of fruitcake, toss your white elephant snags into a box for next year, and pick out that new, crisp 2010 calendar plastered with puppies or heartthrobs, I encourage you to get excited about the future.

Looking back ten years, we see just how much has changed. Looking ahead to 2020, we can only imagine what the future has in store. But for now, let’s just take it one day at a time.

From everyone here at News in a Click, I wish you a very happy new year!
